Within the event The Future of Healthcare in Madrid, organized by Madrid Open City, an approach to a bioregion for Madrid was presented.
The key elements of the project are:
- inspired by the cluster concept of Michael Porter and the “triple helix of innovation” by Henry Etzkowitz, based on the interaction between three elements: Administration, companies and Universities and other centers of knowledge generation
- a bioregion is proposed based on a boost to innovation in health in Madrid
- the objective is to set up a non-profit organization, with public/private financing, but fundamentally private
- the idea is that the bioregion has a professional management
